Suzuki riders crowned ADAC MX Champions

Suzuki riders and RM-Z machinery dominated Germany’s hotly-contested ADAC MX Masters and Younger Cup Championships with one-two-three in the Masters class and victory in the Youngster Cup series following Sunday’s eighth and final round at Gaildorf.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Glenn Coldenhoff (RM-Z450) was already crowned MX Masters Champion at the penultimate round and team mate Jeremy Seewer (RM-Z250) clinched second overall on the day after an intense battle with Team Castrol Power1 Suzuki Moto-Base rider Dennis Ullrich (RM-Z450). In the Younger Cup, Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Brian Hsu topped the series with overall victory on the day aboard his RM-Z250.

More than 15,000 fans attended the series finale at the world famous Grand Prix circuit, situated east of Stuttgart, to witness some exciting racing and intense battles for the final podium positions in both classes.

Ullrich and Seewer were locked in a duel for the second-step of the series podium going into the final deciding pair of motos. Seewer fired the first shot, ending race one in third position ahead of Ullrich, who took the flag in fifth. The friendly Suzuki rivals went into the final race of the season tied on 260 points and it went down to the wire over the 30 minutes plus two laps.

Ullrich gated well to complete the first lap in second place as Seewer was mid-pack. The Swiss rider gave it all and managed to reel in Ullrich, but ‘Ulle’ kept cool and rode error-free. “It’s all or nothing in such a situation,” said Ullrich. “I knew Jeremy was right behind me so I continued to find my lines and remained focused. It worked out ok and I’m very happy with the runner-up finish in the series.”

“That was a great showdown,” said Seewer. “I’m disappointed for sure, having been unable to pass Ullrich, but third place in the championship is a good result. Let´s not forget I was aboard my 250cc bike from the MX2 World Championship against bigger machines.”

Hsu gave the Suzuki camp further reason for celebration: The highly-talented teenager took his fifth overall victory in eight ADAC Youngster Cup meetings, finishing with a 2-1 moto score. The 17-year-old German-Taiwanese was that dominant, he ended the series 115 points ahead of second place.

Hsu’s team-mate Bas Vaessen showed good form on the hard-pack track, posting ninth and a sixth places on the day as Tom Koch (Team ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Johannes-Bikes Suzuki) ended 11th on the day and sixth in the championship.

Said Thomas Hannecke, Suzuki Germany´s Sport Marketing Manager, Motorcycle and ATV: “The first three positions in the Masters series, the Constructor´s title and a dominant win in the Youngster Cup with Brian Hsu… there´s not much more to expect as a Team Manager! It was a dream season in the Masters series and a huge motivation to attack again next year, so a big thank you to all our sponsors as a success like this would never be possible without them.”
