Top six finish for KCMG in Super Formula finale at Suzuka

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) garnered their best Super Formula result after concluding the premier Japanese formula series’ final race in 6th place at Suzuka Circuit over the weekend. Yuchi Nakayama wrapped up the year on a high note after tackling the two-race outing with solid performances that resulted in the team’s first points scoring finish in the highly-competitive single seater championship. The Toyota-backed Japanese driver completed Saturday’s qualifying sessions in fourteenth and tenth position. In contrast to the circuit’s dry state the previous day, Sunday’s races were held in wet conditions. Nakayama’s performance in the first 20-lap sprint race saw him move up the field to twelfth position. Unfortunately, the 2013 JF3 champion’s efforts ended prematurely after his car spun off track on Lap 17.Repairs were completed in time for Super Formula’s final race and Nakayama went on to deliver an impressive drive on tricky conditions, finishing the 27-lap endurance challenge in sixth place later that afternoon. As the 2015 season drew to a close, KCMG and Nakayama are elated to cap off the year by ultimately clinching their best result in Japan’s top Formula series at Suzuka.Yuichi Nakayama: “Though the weekend had its highs and lows, it was great that we were able to finish Super Formula’s finale in the points. I’m happy for the team and it makes the culmination of a year’s work more meaningful. I’d like to thank KCMG and Ryuji Doi for this opportunity to once again compete in Japan’s top Formula series and also, thank you to Toyota and all our sponsors who supported us this year.”Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport: “I am pleased with the results that Yuichi and the team delivered over the weekend. Despite the setback that we had during the first race, the team made an impressive comeback and Nakayama did an excellent job in Race 2, which resulted in a top 6 finish! It was a pleasure to have once again worked with Yuichi this year. He has improved and delivered solid results this season for the team and we look forward to working with him again in the future.”
