The first race of the weekend brought on-track the GP3 Series teams and drivers in Bahrain, with Luca Ghiotto lining-up second on the grid, followed by Artur Janosz in P6 and by Michele Beretta in P17. After being blocked at the start by the car he had in front, Luca completed his race in 4th place, capturing the fastest lap of the race in the process. He is now second in the driver standings, just three points away from his title rival. Artur Janosz, who found good chemistry with the track, scored his best result of the season in a feature race. On the other hand, Michele Beretta had an unlucky break, as he was involved in a first-lap contact that brought him back to the pits for a new nose. 27 - LUCA GHIOTTO
Aci Team Italia’s Luca Ghiotto started from the front row but, blocked by the car he had in front, found himself third, holding the position for much part of the race. Setting a positive and consistent pace, the Vicenza-based Italian even managed to set the fastest lap of the race which enabled him to score more valuable points adding up to the ones collected for eventually ending up in 4th place. Luca is still fighting for the title in a championship that is getting more and more exciting. In race 2, set for tomorrow at 9:00 GMT+3, Ghiotto will be lining-up in row 2 in front of Ocon.

26 - ARTUR JANOSZ
Polish racer Artur Janosz turned out to be well-suited by this kind of racetrack and delivered a positive race. He completed some clean passes and scored his best result of the season in a feature race. His pace was quick throughout the whole run until the final few laps, when some tire degradation made him suffer. He succeeded in defending his position though, ending up not too far behind his team-mate in 6th. In addition to scoring valuable points, he will have the chance to start race 2 from the second row.
Starting Position: P6Final Position: P628 - MICHELE BERETTA
The first race of the weekend hasn’t been a lucky one for Michele Beretta, who was involved in a contact with another car right after the start and was forced to come back to the pits to change his front wing. Once the pit-stop was completed, Michele went back on-track but, at that point, he had already lost ground towards the rest of the pack so he could just complete the race to cross the line in 20th place. In the opening laps, his pace was quick and consistent but the young Italian, who is just at his first runs in GP3, is still understanding how to manage the tires in order to avoid degradation. For him, race 1 was a good occasion to increase his experience in the series and learn a new track. Michele will start from the back of the pack tomorrow, aiming for a recovery drive.
