Trident GP2 Feature Race review

The Feature Race for this weekend’s GP2 Series event at Bahrain was completed yesterday by Trident with a fourth place scored by Aci Team Italia’s Raffaele Marciello. The Italian collected more valuable points for the driver championship while Daniel De Jong, who made it back on-track with Trident after his Spa-Francorchamps crash, ended up in 19th. The second race of the weekend is scheduled for Saturday November 21st, at 10:45 local time (GMT+3). Trident will be starting in row three with Marciello and in 19th place with De Jong.

11 - RAFFAELE MARCIELLO

After setting a good pace in yesterday’s qualifying, which translated in a third place on the grid, Marciello was off to a perfect start today and battled his way throughout the opening laps, retaining his starting position. The pace of his car proved consistent and Lello also went for a clean pass that gave him a chance to chase Vandoorne out front. On the starting grid, the tire choice had fallen on a set of Prime Mediums, which meant a late pit-stop in the second half of the race. Unfortunately, the stop happened too late and the Italian, once back on-track, found himself fighting amidst traffic, losing the chance to hold onto a podium position. Marciello eventually crossed the line in fourth place, capturing a points finish.Final Position: P4Position on Starting Grid: P3Tires on grid start : Prime Medium White

12 - DANIEL DE JONG

De Jong lined-up in Bahrain for his first GP2 outing after the heavy crash suffered at Spa that forced him to a two-month recovery. The Dutchman, who was back in full shape at Al Sakhir, decided to enter the two final rounds of the 2015 season with Trident. Daniel proved aggressive and focused. He delivered numerous passes and climbed up the order in the first part of the race. Unfortunately, his pit-stop also came too late and he exited the pits at the back of the pack. He will aim for an aggressive recovery tomorrow, looking forward to more passing action in race 2.
