Motors TV Christmas Highlights

Motors TV Christmas HighlightsContrary to what we rather enthusiastically proclaimed earlier this month, Christmas is now well and truly here(ish)! ‘Tis the season to be jolly and consume outrageous amounts of everything unhealthy and hearty, but oh what more fun it is to take a ride with Motors TV and its stocking full of high-octane festive action! That’s right, The High Speed Television Channel is on hand to provide you with all the motorsport goodness needed for an action-packed Christmas and a door-banging New Year.

Christmas EveWhile old Saint Nick may have his rounds down to a fine tee by now, we can get you the really good stuff a tad quicker! Indeed, why not get Christmas off to an early start with highlights from this year’s cracker of an FIA World Endurance Championship season, which saw Porsche LMP1 star and all-round top bloke Mark Webber seize his first world championship title in emphatic fashion. Coupled with some of 2015’s most electrifying racing and Porsche’s first victory at Le Mans in 17 years, this season was certainly one of the greatest in living memory. On a more practical note, we’re putting on a blow-by-blow replay of the latest Andros Trophy round in Alpe d’Huez to show Santa how ice driving should be done! There’s also some water-borne action from the American and British sides of the globe with P1 Superstock powerboat racing, as well as some two-wheeled Australasian Superbikes tussling from Oz’s Winton Raceway.

Christmas DayOn a day of merriment and general overindulgence, having a pit-stop or two for a mince pie and a motor race will certainly not go amiss. No miracle-working pastries from us we’re afraid, but we’ll get your Christmas morning off to a flying start with the motorsport gift that keeps on giving: the FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup race from this year’s Macau Grand Prix. Superstar Swede Felix Rosenqvist topped off a highly successful F3 season by snatching his second victory in as many years, and his performance at the prestigious venue certainly makes him one to watch for a glittering future in single-seater competition. Speaking of superstars, we also have coverage of this year’s Colin McRae Subaru Weekender gathering. This poignant event provided an excellent opportunity to take a selection of Subaru Impreza WRX STis on a trip around North Wales in memory of the rallying legend, as well as his iconic championship-winning victory in Rally Wales GB 20 years ago. Along with the fantastic Drift Outlaws championship’s truly heart-warming Ollie Gardiner Charity Drift Show, we also have some more mud-plugging action with the Scottish Hill Rally and coverage from round three of the track-based Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship at Rockingham.

Boxing DayIf the idea of cold turkey sandwiches and the mother of all dishwashing stints is not filling you with festive joy, give yourself a morning kick with the first instalment of our favourite bits from this year’s intense V8 Supercars season. The scene was set for a titanic battle between the aptly named Mark Winterbottom and championship veteran Craig Lowndes as the season got underway, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. In his relentless quest for that elusive maiden V8 crown, Winterbottom pulled out all the stops to become the championship’s 10th title winner after a tense final round in Sydney. You can also catch the greatest moments from an equally epic FIA World Rally Championship season, as well as the most spectacular offs from our Best Of Crash coverage from this year!

New Year’s DayIt’s a new dawn, a new day and a New Year – are you feeling good? Not if a stinking hangover has anything to say about it, but some tyre-smoking slithering courtesy of our Monza Rally Show highlights will almost certainly help. Not often do you get to see ‘The Doctor’ of Moto GP, Valentino Rossi, push himself to the limit in a four-wheeled speed machine, so a sore head is no excuse! The spiritual successor to the famous Dakar Rally – the Africa Eco Race – will also be shown to bring you some much needed warmth and off-road hooning. Stages three and four provide competitors with a difficult mix of steep dunes and rocky tracks, so this challenging part of the event is not to be missed! To top off your dose of motorised adventuring we also have coverage of the Canadian Rally Championship, classic car shenanigans from our Hero Cup Onboard Special programme and part two of our 2015 Best Of Crash highlights to boot!
