Akhil Rabindra returns to BRDC F4 for 2016 with Lanan

Indian racer Akhil Rabindra has signed for Lanan Racing it has been announced, becoming the eighth driver to be confirmed on the 2016 BRDC Formula 4 grid.

The 19-year-old competed for Douglas Motorsport in his debut year in BRDC F4, scoring numerous top 10 places for the team. Rabindra joined the series after participating in the FIA Institute's 2014 Young Driver Excellence Academy.

Rabindra will make his competitive debut in the new Tatuus-Cosworth car at Snetterton on 27/28 March for the Bedfordshire-based team, which won the first two BRDC F4 championships in 2013 and 2014.

Rabindra said: "Lanan Racing has been the most successful team in Formula 4 so I am really happy to be joining them. Last year gave me the experience of racing in the UK that I needed and I am looking forward to fighting at the front this year."

Graham Johnson, Team Principal of Lanan Racing, added: "We saw how Akhil improved as last year progressed, so it's great to have signed him for this season. His record is strong and we are looking forward to working with him to push him forward and on to race wins."

The 2016 BRDC Formula 4 Championship season features 24 races across eight meetings and includes rounds at iconic racing venues such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
