With the 2016 national motor sport campaign rapidly racing into view, thoughts are already turning to testing, for as the old adage goes, fail to prepare and you’re preparing to fail. As the UK’s fastest and most challenging circuit, Thruxton is always a popular pre-season stop, and its traditional February test days are now open for booking.The dates have been confirmed for the afternoon of Wednesday, 17 February (13:00 – 17:00) and all day on Thursday, 18 February (09:00 – 17:00), with alternating open and closed-wheel sessions throughout.As a ‘General Test’, it is open to all, and has in recent years attracted a large number of Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) teams and support series competitors amongst others, who have all benefitted from extensive running around the high-speed Hampshire venue.“It’s always good to kick-start the season with a busy couple of test days, and we fully expect to see plenty of cars out on-track next month,” said Thruxton Group Managing Director Bill Coombs.“Due to noise restrictions, there are limited opportunities for race cars to run here at Thruxton outside of race weekends, so this is an invaluable chance to do some pre-season homework and get a head-start on the opposition for when the serious business gets underway!”Bookings can be made by contacting cj@thruxtonracing.co.uk or calling 01264 774921.
