LEICESTER and Sheffield have announced plans to start the season with an Inter-League Challenge between the two clubs. The sides will meet in the East Midlands at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium on Saturday March 19 (1pm start) before the return fixture takes place in South Yorkshire at Owlerton on Thursday March 24.Leicester owner David Hemsley said: “Sheffield reached the quarter-finals of the Premier League play-offs last year and they have put together another competitive team that should feature strongly in the race for the title. “Four of their riders also race in the Elite League so we can expect a rigorous work-out before we enter our official fixtures.”Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We are delighted to be racing Leicester at the start of the season, I’m sure we will see two good meetings and the fans of both clubs will want to see both of them.“I have little doubt the Sheffield fans will want to take the short hop down the M1 to go to Leicester and we look forward to welcoming Lions fans to Owlerton on March 24.”

BELLE Vue have signed two more riders to join the Colts as their National League line-up nears completion.David Holt has already featured for the club as captain of their Midland Development League team, and had a spell with Buxton in 2015, whilst the Colts have also handed a place to speedway newcomer Daniel Bewley.Manager Graham Goodwin said: “I think most people at Belle Vue will already be familiar with David. “He's a good lad to have around and I don't think it’s any great surprise that we’re giving him the opportunity to step up to the National League with us because it’s somewhere he deserves to be.“Danny is a very raw talent at this stage but we've already seen examples of what he can do up at Glasgow and at Scunthorpe, where he’s been having a few practice spins under watchful eyes. It has to be said, we were very impressed with what we saw.”
