• Ambitious objectives for Arthur and his new team• Frenchman already feeling perfectly at homeArthur Pic will compete with title-winning outfit Rapax Team for their assault on the 2016 GP2 Series championship. The 24-year-old, now contesting his third season in the FIA’s official Formula 1 feeder series, will be looking to gain even more podiums and victories in his new venture with the competitive Italian entry, which has claimed two championships and numerous race wins since its inception in 2010.Amidst various separate offers made during the off-season period, Rapax Managing Director Andrea Bergamini’s support proved to be a highly attractive proposition for Arthur, and made his decision to join the family-focused and passionate squad all too easy. The GP2 specialists also enjoy a privileged partnership with the championship’s single-seater chassis designer, Dallara. The deal allows each of Rapax’s drivers to use the renowned Italian manufacturer’s state-of-the-art simulator, and will form a significant part of their intensive race preparation throughout the coming season.Arthur Pic: “I’m delighted to be joining Rapax for my third campaign in the GP2 Series. I wanted to be part of a front-running team that can challenge for the title, and Rapax have shown over the years that they can deliver very strong results. They were especially competitive and consistent last year, so I look forward to building on that success in 2016.“They also have a great sense of camaraderie and family spirit, which are really important to have in a team. Experiencing all of that first-hand at the factory was fantastic and made my decision to join them even easier.“This season is shaping up to be another highly competitive one – particularly with several race winners returning to the series – but I'm sure we have what it takes and will work as hard as we can to achieve our objectives.“GP2 provides a range of opportunities and remains the best career choice for me so, with Rapax’s support, everything looks in place for a great year.”Andrea Bergamini: “All of us at Rapax have worked hard to lay some solid foundations for 2016 since topping off a positive season in Abu Dhabi last November.“A thorough preparation programme is crucial in a highly competitive championship like GP2, and Arthur’s extensive talent will be invaluable for reaching our ambitious goals.“His trust confirms Rapax’s valuable work over the past few seasons, which culminated in a superb 2015 campaign competing against the championship’s frontrunners, and we are determined to continue on the same path and aim for the top once again.”Arthur and his new team will now focus on finalising their winter preparations with a busy schedule of physical training camps, technical briefings and simulator sessions over the coming weeks. The 2016 GP2 Series campaign kicks off with the first official pre-season test, which takes place in Barcelona on March 9, with Jerez hosting a second session between 29 and 31 March. The race calendar is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
