WITH the new motorsport season fast approaching, Rockingham has released its provisional race calendar, and once again 2016 looks set to be another great year of motor racing at the Northamptonshire circuit.
This season’s racing line-up promises to include something for everyone with action on two and four wheels from grassroots motorsport through to the UK’s premier saloon race series as well as the venue’s annual American Auto-Fest.
With 14 race meetings scheduled between April and December, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship headlines the race calendar but switches from its traditional September date to the weekend of August 27/28.
The star spangled banner will be flying high over Rockingham on July 2/3, for the venue’s annual Cars & Stripes American Auto-Fest, which guarantees to keep the whole family entertained on and off-the-track.
The high-performance teams from the Avon Tyres British GT Championship always brings more than a touch of glamour to the track showcasing some of the world’s exotic supercars and are back with the raising stars of the BRDC F4 Championship on April 30/May 1.
Once again the British Automobile Race Club (BARC) raises the curtain on the circuit’s new club season on April 9/10, before returning for a second visit in the spring on May 28/29, while the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) is pencilled in for three visits on May 14/15, June 11/12 and September 17/18.
Completing the club race line-up are 360 Motor Racing Club (April 16), MotorSport Vision Racing (June 18/19), 750 Motor Club Car Racing (September 10/11), while Rockingham Stages Rally draws the season to a close on December 3/4. For those who prefer their racing on two wheels, ThundersportGB returns on July 30/31.
