Suzuki has won the 2016 Monster Arenacross championship for a second successive season, with Thomas Ramette and the SR75-Molson Racing team.
Ramette has been in dominant form onboard the RM-Z450 throughout the campaign, taking five main event wins in the 11 round series, as well as a further three main event podiums.
After winning the opening round in Manchester, Ramette took a second main event win at the fourth round in Belfast. However, he was collected by another rider during round five's main event, costing him valuable championship points.
The Frenchman remained focused, and arrived at Wembley for the series finale just three points adrift of the series lead. After winning his heat races, an emphatic battle ensued in the final main event of the season, wit h Ramette and rival Cedric Soubeyras bar to bar on several occasions, before the SR75-Molson Suzuki rider took the chequered flag in fourth place to seal his second Arenacross championship, and become the first rider to achieve back-to-back AX titles.
Thomas Ramette said, "That was intense but so satisfying. We put absolutely everything into this season and tonight was no different. The RM-Z450 performed incredibly well the whole tour and with the team of complete professionals around me, this has been the best tour yet. I'm incredibly proud to be the first back-to-back champion."
The SR75-Molson Racing Suzuki team also claimed the coveted Team Championship, with both Ramette and teammate Cyrille Coulon rarely off the podium during the eleven round series.
Team Manager, Geoff Walker, added, "This has been a very special tour. I cannot thank the team, sponsors and friends enough that have helped to make this possible. Thomas rode incredibly well all season and showed pace this evening that was simply on another level. A very worthy champion.
"As for Cyrille, he's been with us a long time and continues to impress. His performance in the championship has been the icing on the cake for us this season. If there is such a thing as a dream team, then we most certainly have it."
Ramette and the SR75-Molson Suzuki team will now head to Daytona, Florida, for a wildcard appearance in the AMA Supercross series.
