16 year-old looking forward to competing with world’s most talented young drivers.German Carrie Schreiner will run alongside Goddard for Double R at selected rounds.

Australian Zane Goddard is all set to race in Ford MSA Formula for Double R this season. The 16 year-old already has experience of car racing, having competed in the FIA Australian Formula 4 series in 2015. He finished ninth in the standings and collected a podium finish at Phillip Island along the way.

After impressing at a test in Valencia this winter, Double R Racing snapped up the Aussie talent. He joins compatriots Luis Leeds and Harry Hayek in making the switch to Ford MSA Formula, which uses the same Mygale chassis and Ford EcoBoost engine as Australian Formula 4.

Said Goddard: “It’s a great opportunity and certainly a big challenge to race against top quality drivers from all corners of the globe.

“I feel extremely privileged to compete overseas this year in Ford MSA Formula with Double R Racing.

“The Double R team has been brilliant to work with so far. They are incredibly professional. To have their support and that of my sponsors Integrated Systems Group and ARA Group is fantastic.”

Double R team boss Anthony Hieatt added: “Zane is a decent pedaller. He knows the Mygale cars and the tyres so hopefully he will be running at the front.”

Goddard’s teammate at selected rounds this season will be German driver Carrie Schreiner who will dovetail her ADAC Formel 4 commitments with Ford MSA Formula.

The opening rounds of MSA Formula – Certified by FIA, powered by Ford EcoBoost are set for Brands Hatch in early April. The series is Britain’s official version of the FIA’s Formula 4 concept and was introduced last season as a supporting series on the live-televised British Touring Car Championship package.
