Round 1: Woolbridge Motor Club's Golden Springs Trial, 6 March

Reigning British champion Mark Hoppe won his local Woolbridge Motor Club’s Golden Springs Car Trial, the opening round of the championship.

Hoppe overcame an overheating engine to withstand pressure from fellow local Nick Cleal and win the event for the third successive year in its fiftieth running.

Andy Webb completed the podium with a fantastic drive just four points further back in his Alfa Romeo. Dave Robinson won the rear wheel drive class to finish in fourth. Jim Forsyth won the clubman’s section.
