Round 1: Rowrah, 19-20 March

Harry Thompson took an eight-point lead from the first round of the championship held at Rowrah in Cumbria after two narrowly won victories.

Both finals for the IAME 60cc 2-stroke engines resolved into four way scraps for the wins. In Final One Thompson slotted in behind polesitter Joseph Taylor until Taylor Barnard leapfrogged both. A great pass on the last lap sealed victory for Thompson.

Final Two was brought to a premature red flagged halt for an incident on the last corner but Thompson was once more in the lead when it counted. He had fought off challenges from Taylor and Barnard, at one point coming back to the front from fifth.
