Motors TV Weekend Highlights March 26,27

Remember that ‘new year, new me’-inspired fitness regime of yours? Probably not, but considering the Easter bunny will be delivering a hefty hoard of chocolatey goodness right to your door this weekend, it looks like it will finally be taking that inevitable hike. If you’re not all too pleased to see it go, the High Speed Television channel has decided to help by, erm, keeping you stuck to the sofa with its perfect low-calorie, high-octane diet!

First up on the agenda is another one of the motorsport calendar’s most treasured gems – the 12 Hours of Sebring. After making a smashing entrance to 2016 with the similarly legendary 24 Hours of Daytona back in January, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returned to Sebring last weekend and delivered non-stop, chaos-littered action up and down the grid at the former air base. Tension was rife ahead of the prestigious event, with the crew of the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing DP Corvette seeking revenge against their Tequila Patron ESM Prototype rivals for losing out back at the Florida speedway. Factor in a Corvette Racing Team eager to make it two GTLM wins from two this season, as well as back-to-back wins at Sebring, and there was only one way the race was going to go. As our two-hour highlights package will reveal, it was certainly a thrilling one!

Now we move on to some endurance racing with a more continental and wonderfully eclectic touch. Indeed, the VdeV Endurance Series caters in plenty for fans who simply love everything four-wheeled and fast, boasting everything from LMP2 and LMP3 prototypes to GTs, touring cars and Silhouette racers. And all this at top-flight European Grand Prix venues such as Paul Ricard, Magny Cours and Catalunya! Seldom do you get such a wide-ranging band of sportscar machinery in one place, so make sure you catch our coverage of 2016’s first round at Catalunya to fully appreciate what we mean.

Since FIM MXGP’s next outing is just round the corner, we thought we’d get you champing at the bit with all the best bits from the last time this elite motocross circus kicked up some dirt at Suphan Buri in Thailand. From the very outset of the 2016 campaign, we were treated to a tantalising battle that’s shaping up to be a true all-time classic. However, it’s not age and experience flying the flag at the top of the motocross world, but instead the remarkable young guns of MXGP newcomer and 2015 MX2 world champ, Tim Gajser, as well as last year’s MXGP title holder, Romain Febvre. Both of them went at it hammer and tongs during the season-opener in Qatar and, while rookie Gajser emulated his superstar rival to gain the advantage in the desert wastes, it would never be wise to count against Febvre a second time. Want to know the outcome of this clash of titans? You know the drill.

If you’re keen to indulge in some more off-road motorcycling, why not compare the top wrung of motocross with the equally talented Enduro contingent? Given that we’re putting on our selection of the finest moments from the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship finale in Spain, we think that would be rather an excellent idea. There’s even more to keep you from stuffing yourself with tasty confectionary, too, including the best bits from the International Endurance Series’ outing at Mugello, V8 Supercars highlights AND World Series Sprintcars! Truly, resisting the Easter egg urge has never been easier.
