The 2016 season will get underway for Callaway Competition in Oschersleben with the long-awaited season opener of the ADAC GT Masters this coming weekend. Following the successful pre-season preparations for the tenth season of the “League of Super GT cars”, the team is aiming to live-up to earlier successes with the three racing cars.

Callaway Competition competes with three of the new Corvette C7 GT3-R, which celebrated its world-wide premiere at the season final at the Hockenheimring last October. The successful tests in Oschersleben last week showed the results of many months of hard work in developing and setting-up the new car.

The three Corvettes have some great names behind their steering wheels. The AutoArenA race car is driven by Patrick Assenheimer (D) and Dominik Schwager (D). The Roller/Valvoline Corvette has the 2013 Champion, Daniel Keilwitz (D), driving besides Frenchman Jules Gounon. The two Americans, Boris Said and Eric Curran, are debuting in the Whelen Corvette.

“In general, I am pleased with the preparations for this season”, says Giovanni Ciccone, Team Principal Callaway Competition. “The first milestone will be the first qualifying, then we will have a better idea where we stand. Some teams haven´t shown their full potential just yet.

“But one thing is for sure: this season will not be an easy task. The starting grid is terrific; all great manufacturers are represented with their new racing cars. There are more than 30 entries and eight brands at the start, the competition will be extremely close and there is no room for mistakes. But I am positive and confident, that we will grab our chances this year.”

The ADAC GT Masters races will be broadcast live on Sport 1 again. The Free Practice on Friday at 11:45am will kick-off the season. The first showdown will be the qualifying for Saturday´s race, taking place on Saturday morning at 09:25am. Both races will commence Saturday and Sunday from 01:15pm.
