David Perel prepares for Ferrari debut at Monza

PEREL, FERRARI, MONZA!

Racing a Ferrari at Monza. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, that’s a dream about to come true for Cape Town race driver David Perel as he prepares to start his Kessel Ferrari 458 GT3 career in the Blancpain GT Endurance Championship at the great Italian racetrack 23-24 April.

Perel who stunned with his race-winning Italian GT3 Cup performance driving a Lamborghini last year, was snapped up to drive for official Ferrari GT3 team Kessel Racing in 2016 and following a most successful test at Paul Ricard in France last month, he simply cannot wait to finally race the car at a circuit he loves and knows well.

“Monza is one of my top three favourite tracks, it’s a real classic,” David explained. “My job there is to focus on winning the AM class, but as much as I’d like to risk it all and try impress myself upon the Pro teams, I need to keep the goal of doing the best job for my team and co-drivers in mind.

“I also need to make up for last year when we missed out on a double Monza win with technical issues,” Perel concluded. “I just can’t wait!”

With 58 the world’s finest supercars from Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, BMW, Audi, Mercedes entered at Monza for the likes of F1 winner Giancarlo Fisichella among the over 150 leading F1, Le Mans, sport and GT drivers to drive, it’s not going to be easy, but Perel and his co-drivers, American Stephen Earle and Belgian Bernard Delhez are relishing the prospect.
