Following a six week break since his Mazda Road to Indy ladder system debut, Australian driver Jake Parsons is raring to get back on track this weekend as the Pro Mazda series reaches Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama for rounds four and five.
The Juncos driver has been putting the long gap between races to good use, focusing on his physical and mental preparation.
“The team is building the best group of mechanics, engineers and driver coaches around each driver, which helps us all develop and learn quicker,” explained the 21-year-old.
“I’ve been working hard on my fitness at PitFit in Indianapolis too. It’s very cool, but still quite surreal seeing my name alongside IndyCar legends I am aiming to emulate.”
Parsons, who won the 2014 AsiaCup championship, joined his teammates at Barber for pre-season testing in March.
Floor damage and subsequent ride height problems affected the young Australian’s times, leaving him especially keen to return and fully push the limits of the car on a track he describes as ‘awesome’.
“I love driving at Barber. It’s a real driver’s track, with a lot of different challenges,” said the 2015 Formula Masters China Series vice-champion. “It’s going to be really cool to race there. We’re all feeling positive, focused and fully prepared for the weekend ahead.”
Rounds four and five of the Pro Mazda series take place on 22-24 April.
