Are you sitting comfortably? Good, because there’s more than enough fuel-injected action on the High Speed Television Channel this weekend to keep you suitably entertained.
We start with a double bill of live Motocross, as the MXGP and MX2 series visit Kegums in Latvia. With reigning MXGP champion Romain Febvre and MX2 champion Tim Gajser separated by just three points heading into the weekend, you won’t want to miss a moment of the action in the premier category, while Jeffrey Herlings will attempt to extend his 100% record in the MX2 class. Better get the popcorn ready!
If last week’s opening round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza left you wanting more, then look no further than the GT4 European Series from the same venue. In addition to eight KTM X-Bow GT4s entered in the Reiter Young Stars Cup for up-and-coming male and female racers, iconic brands such as Maserati, BMW, Porsche and Chevrolet will be slipstreaming, kerb-hopping and battling door handle to door handle at the Italian cathedral of speed for your viewing pleasure.
There are still a few months to go until the Le Mans 24 Hours, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy sportscar racing at the famous French venue in the meantime. Thankfully we’ve got you covered, with highlights of V de V Endurance Series from the Bugatti circuit. Look out for Ginetta’s fearsome new G57 prototype in a mixed field also comprising some rather tasty-looking LMP3 and GT3 machinery.
What does IMSA GTLM champion Patrick Pilet have in common with Frederic Makowiecki, Kevin Estre, Jean-Karl Vernay and Come Ledogar? The answer is that all five have since gone on to forge successful careers as professional racing drivers after winning the French Carrera Cup, which kicks off across the border in Barcelona. With last year’s champion Maxime Jousse moving on, can runner-up Mathieu Jaminet take advantage?
A little closer to home, Castle Combe will host Motors TV Race Day Live on Monday, with the usual variety of Saloons, GTs and single-seaters showcasing the best that British club motorsport has to offer. If you can find a 30-plus grid of Morgans pounding around on the same bill as Formula Fords, Renault Clios and BMWs anywhere else, we’ll be surprised.
And if that’s not enough, also on offer are highlights of the VAG Trophy and Mini Challenge from Donington and the ever-entertaining Caterham UK Racing series from Brands Hatch, where a winning margin larger than two seconds is considered ‘dominant’.
