Ben Keating and the No. 33 ViperExchange.com/ Gas Monkey Garage Dodge Viper GT3-R team will start Sunday’s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix from the sixth row after a challenging qualifying session today at Laguna Seca.The third race on the 2016 calendar for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Daytona (GTD) class, Sunday’s featured two-hour sprint starts at 3:45 p.m. PDT. Live coverage on FOX Sports 2 (FS2) begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT.“We are still searching,” Keating said. “We're in a position I can’t remember us being in before, and that is that we haven't found any setup changes that make the car work to our liking. It's really confusing.”Keating qualified a disappointing 12th in the GTD Daytona (GTD) with a lap time of 1:28.062 (91.490 mph). He and world-class co-driver Jeroen Bleekemolen have both had trouble finding the Viper’s usual pace the last two days at Laguna Seca. “I feel pretty confident we have the best engineers in the paddock working on this car,” Keating said. “It's a car that they built, they know it well, we've been racing it for three years, and it's just strange that we're struggling as bad as we are, but hopefully we make it better, or maybe we get a chance to do something crazy on strategy. It's just one of those events where right now I just want to make it to the end cleanly and finish.”Sunday’s race-day schedule begins with a 1:50 p.m. PDT final warm-up session.
