Lloyd set for Thruxton thriller on BTCC return‏

Daniel Lloyd is set to tackle Hampshire’s fast and furious Thruxton circuit this coming weekend as he gets his 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign underway. Lloyd faces fierce competition from 31 of the UK’s best tin-top racers on what is arguably one of the most demanding circuits on the BTCC calendar as the Championship heads to the South-West track for rounds 7, 8 & 9 (May 7/8).Having announced his return to the illustrious BTCC grid live on ITV4 at Donington Park circuit just three weeks ago, Lloyd will make his competitive debut in the Eurotech Honda Civic Type R competing under his trademark #23.“I honestly can’t wait to get back out on track this weekend;” said Lloyd. “It’s been such a long winter putting the deal together with Eurotech and I’m itching to get back racing again!”24-year-old Lloyd returns to the BTCC grid after a five year sabbatical from front wheel racing, where the then 18-year-old made a notable first impression securing two top ten finishes during a one-off appearance in the Triple Eight Engineering-run Vectra back in 2010.“It’s definitely going to be a case of in at the deep end at Thruxton. We managed a run in the car at Silverstone last Friday and it took quite a bit of getting used to as the techniques are so different to the GT cars that I've been racing for the last five years;” Lloyd added.“I’m under no illusions of just how competitive the BTCC is but the Eurotech Racing guys have a lot of experience behind them and they’ve put together a great package for us so hopefully we can hit the ground running this weekend. Qualifying well on Saturday will be key with so many cars on track and it would be great to be able to break into the points on our first outing, but we’ll see how the weekend pans out.”The weekend’s action gets underway at Thruxton on May 7/8. Live coverage of Sunday's races will be shown on ITV4, itv.com and also in HD from 11am – 6pm; with rounds 7, 8 & 9 shown live at 12 noon, 2.20pm and 5.05pm.Live streaming of Saturday's qualifying session will also be feature on itv.com between 4.10 and 4.40pm with additional live timing for qualifying and all three races available at: http://livetiming.tsl-timing.com/TOCA
