Double R adds Spanish series to British F4 and BRDC British F3 Eight event calendar for first season of FIA F4 Spanish Championship Circuits include Jerez, Valencia, Barcelona and Motorland AragonChampionship to also visit Portimao and Estoril in Portugal

The top British motorsport team , headed by Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt, has been a prominent race winning and title winning force for over a decade – including high-profile success at the prestigious Macau F3 Grand Prix – and is now set to become a key player in the inaugural year of the domestic Spanish series.

Scheduled to commence over the weekend 11th/12th June at Navarra, the championship will also visit Motorland Aragon, Portimao and Estoril in neighbouring Portugal, Jerez, Valencia and Jarama over the course of a seven event championship campaign. There is also set to be a non-championship race meeting at a yet-to-be confirmed venue.

“The F4 championships certified by FIA are very good championships for young drivers”, said Double R team principal Hieatt, “We are already present in the F4 British Championship and we would like to expand our team in that direction.

“The 2016 F4 Spanish Championship is, therefore, a very good opportunity for us. We love racing on Spanish circuits and we want to be part of a new challenge, so we are delighted to enter the maiden year of the F4 Spanish Championship certified by FIA.”

On behalf of the championship, promoter Afa Heikkinen added: “It is very good to see that international teams as well-known as Double R Racing are taking part in our championship. They have a long history in motorsport, therefore their trust and support is important for us in those early days. We will have an interesting grid and we are very impatient to start the season.”
