Cock O' the North lives up to its name

The annual Cock O’ the North Road Races at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough organised by Auto 66 Club has once again attracted a start studded entry.

The aim of the club has been to engage young riders into road racing. So for this is really showing the club are on the right path with most of the Club’s top names, Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin and Lee Johnston, already at the top end of the timing sheets at the Isle of Man TT, which is currently taking place.

Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin & Lee Johnston will be attending the Cock O’ the North on 18th 19th June alongside Jamie Coward, Tom Weeden, Mick & Mark Goodings, James Cowton, Michael Russell and local rider James Tadman. We also welcome back multi TT winner Ian Lougher who has entered the Ultra lightweight class. Ian still holds the record for the most wins around Oliver’s Mount.

The Cock O’ the North will start at 9am on the Saturday morning with practice followed by 10 races starting at 1.30pm. Sunday will start with a warm up at 9am followed by a strong race programme of 12 races starting 10.30am.

For the first time the Cock O’ the North will include a European bike rally with displays from Ducati, BSA, Norton, MV Agusta and many more. This area will be next to the trade area in the main spectator compound, there will be parades both days for European road bikes, one for Italian machines and one for non-Italian Machines. There will also be a parade for Classic racing machines. The Cock O’ the North is looking like an absolute cracking weekend for everyone.

Club members have been very busy over the last few weeks preparing paths ways, steps and extending the hard standing at the main entrance which was a big problem in April with the amount of rain. The club is hoping this solves any problems for the June meeting.

Advanced tickets are still available and for those camping you must book in advanced
