Hutchy Becomes Fastest Road Racer

Four Wins & Absolute Lap Record at Ulster Grand Prix

Ian Hutchinson made his mark on the MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix, round 19 of the Duke Road Race Rankings 2016, taking four wins and becoming the world's fastest road racer after setting a new outright lap record for the Dundrod circuit at a staggering 134.087mph bettering the 133.977mph lap set by Bruce Anstey in 2010.

The Bingley Bullet completed a hat-trick of Superstock race wins, having previously taken the chequered flags at the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT.

Bruce Anstey claimed the laurel wreaths in the opening Supersport race, with Neil Kernohan taking the victory in the Lightweight race, with Christian Elkin taking the honours in the concurrently run Ultra-Lightweight event.

Dan Cooper acheived his maiden international road race win in a scintillating Supertwins race, with the lead changing hands countless times during the five lap race with the Stroud, Gloucestershire rider getting the win by four-tenths of a second from Derek Sheils, with James Cowton third another two-tenths of a second down.

Prior to the Ulster Grand Prix, round 18 of the 2016 Duke Series, the Plant

Lubrication (NI) Dundrod 150 Road Races were run, also on the world famous 7.4011-mile Dundrod course. Michael Dunlop took the feature race honours, leading home Bruce Anstey and Conor Cummins.

Graham Kennedy took the National race victory with 2014 Newcomers Award winner Neil Kernohan taking the Lightweight race victory, the first part of what was to become a 'double' after the UGP. Likewise, Christian Elking lifted the Ultra-Lightweight win. David Jackson won the Dundrod 150 Challenge race.

Dean Harrison remains at the head of the 2016 Rankings where he has been since round 10, the Cock O'the North Road Races, the Yorkshireman has a 604 points lead over 2013 winner, Michael Dunlop, with Ivan Lintin dropping to third.

Ian Hutchinson moves up five place to fourth, with Derek Sheils, William Dunlop (2015 winner) and James Cowton (2014) completing the top six.

Other climbers in the top 20 are Dan Kneen up two from 12th to 10th; Derek McGee also up two from 14th to 12th and Neil Kernohan advances five from 22nd to 17th.

Major movers are Bruce Anstey up a massive 69 places from 91st to 22nd; Conor Cummins up 47 from 72nd to 25th and Christian Elkin up to 26th from 54th a climb of 28 positions.

The Series continues with the next two rounds on the Isle of Man for the Classic TT and the Manx Grand Prix.
