Dean Harrison Retains Steve Henshaw Gold Cup

Dean Harrison continued his almost total domination of the Oliver's Mount circuit this year when he retained the prestigious Steve Henshaw Gold Cup at the 70th Anniversary road race, the penultimate round of the Duke Road Race Rankings Championship 2016.

Not content with winning the feature race of the meeting, the Silicone Engineering Team rider, took another five race wins during the two-day meeting on the tricky parkland course, bringing his total victories over the four meetings held at 'The Mount' this year to 24, setting 21 fastest laps, plus two lap records, it is no wonder the Yorkshireman is leading the Duke Rankings by a massive 900 points from near Lincolnshire neighbour Ivan Lintin with 2013 Rankings winner Michael Dunlop in third spot.

Ivan Lintin has also had a stellar season, interrupted briefly at the Barry Sheene meeting, when a spill resulted in him losing the top of a finger and forced him to miss Armoy, the Ulster Grand Prix and the Classic TT, he was back to his winning ways at the Gold Cup meeting securing the Lee Pullan Trophy after taking the chequered flag in both the Supertwin races, plus a win in the David Jefferies 600cc Cup, first leg, three - second places, a third and a sixth promotes the Devitt RC Express Racing rider one spot to second in the table.

Michael Dunlop had a somewhat mediocre weekend, retiring in the feature Gold Cup race and only managing a fourth and sixth on the Buildbase BMW -the Ballymoney rider slips one place to third.

Derek Sheils making a return to the Mount after a two year absence took two second places and third spot, elevating him to fourth, with Ian Hutchinson fifth and 2014 winner James Cowton sixth in the table.Highest mover in the top-twenty is Paul Owen - thanks to two race wins in the Classic F2 plus another victory in the opening leg of the Phil Mellor Trophy and three other top six placings, he moves up 36 places from 54th to 18th.

However, highest climber of all is Manxman, Jamie Williams, who achieved his first 'international' race win in the David Jefferies 600 B Final second leg, plus three second places, the Douglas rider moves up no less than 83 places from 118th to 35th.

The final round takes place on 21st November at the Macau Motor Cycle Grand Prix, full details of the Duke
