Dorian Rees, Tempest Rally Preview

REES READY FOR DOUBLE GLORY

Having been encouraged by his result on the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, West Wales rally driver Dorian Rees will be looking at taking two titles in the Kwik Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship as the series heads to the final round in the series, the Tempest Rally. Although Rees currently has a comfortable lead in the Prodrive Subaru Cup, he still needs to finish the rally to ensure he takes the honours. He will also be aiming to end the year as leading Production driver. While he dominated the Production Cup on the Trackrod Rally until mechanical problems dropped them out of the lead, the pace was extremely comfortable for the Llanybydder driver and his Aberystwyth co-driver Patrick Walsh in their Subaru Impreza WRX. "We found a steady pace that was quite safe as we were not pushing too hard and well in control and was very surprised to be leading comfortably. We know the pace will be quicker on the Tempest as there is a lot more at stake on the final round of the series. While we just need to finish for the Subaru Cup, we also need to keep a close eye on the Production Cup. We don't need to win but we cant allow anyone to take a healthy lead, so our aim is to push hard over the opening stages and put our rivals under some pressure."The Welshman has taken some additional time away from work to test the car ahead of the championship finale to gain some satisfaction with the set up of the car."Its good to test the car ahead of a rally to ensure the set up feels good and sometimes little tweaks can make a lot of difference. Following our test we feel we have achieved some additional speed and the car feels perfect. We just need to finish the job we started back at the beginning of the year. It has been an eventful year and hopefully we will have some big smiles come Saturday evening."The Tempest Rally starts at 19.00 on Friday 5th November with three competitive special stages, with just under ten miles of competition before Parc Ferme. The competition resumes on Saturday at 7am with fifteen stages before the finish at around 17.00Dorian/Patrick are supported on the British Rally Championship by O2 & Get Connected!, Speedline Corse, Welsh Automotive Forum, Rees Buildings, Roy Rees & Sons Plant Hire, Wyn Thomas Heating, John Morgan Autoparts, GKN, Shell Racing Fuel, Pirelli, Knightsbridge Gallery, Oriel & Barrie Jones, Ad-Clad, Davies Subaru, Forge Motorsport, P & A Whitfield, Dragon Racewear, Alvington Car Sales, Severnside Motorsport.com, Teifi Timber Products,  ACE Motorsport and Maximum Attack Promotions.
