Junior Rally Team initiative to join the BRC 2005
BRCL, the organising body of the British Rally Championship, is announcing a major new initiative for the 2005 Championship in the form of the BRC Junior Rally Team.
Open to drivers born after 1st January 1980, teams can qualify by competing in either the British Super 1600, BRC Production or BRC Formula 2000 Rally Championships. Junior drivers will be recognised within their respective Championships and the top finisher in each series at the end of the season will be nominated for a BRC Junior Team. A BRC specialist panel, made up of key personnel with knowledge of the modern sport, will then select a fourth team member.
Successful juniors will receive BRC Junior awards and the team will then go forward to compete on an International event in Europe against other National junior teams during 2006.
BRC Manager, Mark Taylor, comments, "The BRC has always been a training ground for young drivers and future World Champions and this development will ensure it remains a springboard into the upper echelons of the sport. We will be working with interested parties and potential sponsors to put together a support package for the team to enter a European event in 2006.
"I have started the process of liaising with my European counterparts and the early indications have led us to believe that there is a real appetite for a head to head between National Junior teams. It is also our intention to work closely with the MSA to provide a strong link between the BRC and any talent development scheme they may wish to promote".
