POOLE star Brady Kurtz is awaiting news on the extent of a hip injury suffered in the Australian Under-21 Final last weekend.Kurtz has been released from hospital with no broken bones but needs further advice on the problem, having come to grief at Kurri-Kurri when his new Pirates team-mate Jack Holder fell in front of him.Kurtz said: “I am glad to be home although we are still not exactly sure what the problem is. “I will be seeing a specialist physio in the next few days and hopefully that will sort things out for me.”

SHEFFIELD co-promoter Damien Bates insists it's business as usual at Owlerton - despite taking over Premiership club Leicester.Bates has been unveiled as the shock new man in charge at Beaumont Park, keeping the Lions on track after a financial crisis last season threatened their future.But Bates says he's just as excited about the Sheffield team as he is by his new challenge in the East Midlands.“This is an exciting time,” he said. “And in no way will this have any impact on my work at Sheffield.“In fact, I'm looking at it to benefit Sheffield. Leicester is a purpose built speedway facility and will be available for my Sheffield riders to go along and practice as and when, it's great to have that facility.“We are a management team at Sheffield and that's what has enabled me to take on Leicester. I'm looking forward to helping both clubs be winners this year!”(SPEEDWAY 3)
EIGHT of the sport’s rising British Youth stars will give their support to the Ben Fund Bonanza at Glasgow on March 12.250cc riders Leon Flint, Joe Thompson, Ryan Morris and Dan Thompson, along with Corban Pavitt, Sam McGurk, Harry McGurk and Luke Harrison from the 125cc class will compete in a series of races in addition to the main event at Ashfield.British Youth chief Neil Vatcher said: “It’s all about track time and getting the kids on different tracks. “We went to Glasgow last year for the first time for the British Youth Championship, and everyone could not speak highly enough of the place. We will be going back again later in the season which will be another occasion we will look forward to. “Obviously riding at the Ben Fund will be in front of a big audience, and a chance to show the British public how much we’ve come on and how much there is to look forward to in years to come.”
