LEICESTER newcomer Kevin Wolbert is delighted to have been handed a British Speedway lifeline at Beaumont Park.German star Wolbert, who rode for Edinburgh last year, was without a team place until receiving the call from the Lions who are stepping up to the SGB Premiership this season. He said: “Edinburgh signalled in November that they were planning their team without me so I was very disappointed. I feel very settled in the UK wherever I have ridden and we tried everything to get a place in a team but all slots were closed.“I was very surprised and lucky when Damien Bates’ brother Marc contacted me. We completed the deal pretty quickly and I am happy and keen to be back in UK Speedway and back in Premiership racing.“I think we all are very keen to ride here. It is a good mix between young guns and experience. We are all racers and I think we can gain some decent results. We are not in a favourites’ role but nobody should under-rate us.”(SPEEDWAY 2)

But that’s not the case anymore, and we’ll make the most of the new opportunities that our new clubhouse provides.“There’s so much space inside, and will fit 200 people with comfort. It means we have social functions at the track, both during the season and the winter months as well. It also means we can entertain our hospitality guests better.”
