Plans announced for 2005 BRC Live

British Rally Championship Live!: Saturday 9th April 2005

FEATURES “NEW” BRC ALLSTARS RALLYSPRINT

Building on the success of the 2004 Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship, plans are already well under way for the 2005 Championship.  And marking the launch of the new season, initial details of British Rally Championship Live!, which will kick start the action for competitors, teams and spectators alike, have been released.

British Rally Championship Live!, set for 9th April 2005 at Bramcote near Nuneaton will bring an action-packed day of rallying demonstrations in a specially designed stage, to spectators and supporters, complete with grandstand viewing for all the family. Once again supported by Motorsport in the Midlands, the day will feature prize draws for rally car rides and more attractions and activities than ever to draw bigger crowds and increase the interest in rallying as a whole.

Mark Taylor, Championship Manager, comments, “British Rally Championship Live! is going to be bigger and better in 2005, reflecting the shape of things to come for the whole season. Registered teams and competitors will be able to go to the show to soak up the atmosphere before the real competition starts.”

New for 2005 will be the BRC Allstars Rallysprint featuring a head to head battle between the stars of the 2004 British Rally Championship and some newcomers.  A maximum of 5 competitors from four Championship classes based upon the new categories for 2005, BRC for World Rally cars, the Super 1600’s, Production and F2000 rally championship will compete head to head against the clock. The top four drivers from their respective 2004 Championship categories will get automatic entry qualification. The fifth place will be held at the discretion of the organisers and may indeed include a run off competition beforehand if the category is oversubscribed.

Fans will also be able to meet the stars and the teams and see the cars up close at the BRC Paddock Show in the morning and there will also be a variety of stands by car owners clubs and an auto jumble selling motor memorabilia and parts.

The whole day will cost just £8 per adult with a ‘3 for the price of 2’ offer, plus kids will go free, ensuring a value for money day out for all the family.

The final showdown of the BRC Battle of Bands will be played out at a live music concert where a final of five of the hottest rock bands from around the Midland region will aim to win the coveted prize featuring their winning ballad on the BRC Channel 4 programme.

A fireworks display at the end of the day will add to the party atmosphere, ensuring the launch of the 2005 British Rally Championship starts on a high.

Taylor concludes, “Through British Rally Championship Live! we aim to bring rallying to new audiences, as well as reinforce the Championship’s position in the British rallying calendar. As well as the wide range of activities designed to appeal to the whole family, we believe British Rally Championship Live! will reinforce the success of the Championship and build on its popularity for 2005.”
