MSA Championships Update

ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship
Round 3: McDonald and Munro Speyside Stages, 22 April

Five-time Scottish rally champion David Bogie took a dramatic victory in the third round of the championship, winning the McDonald and Munro Speyside Stages by over 40 seconds in his Skoda Fabia R5.

The Dumfries driver claimed a record-breaking eighth win in the Moray and Aberdeenshire forests but was challenged early on by reigning champion Jock Armstrong. However, the slippery stages would later claim the Subaru Impreza pilot who disappeared down the order in the closing stages.

Euan Thorburn brought his Ford Fiesta R5 home in second place to take the championship lead. Third SRC driver home was Mike Faulkner in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, repeating his podium result from the Border Counties Rally.

Link Up Ltd MSA British Autotest Championship
Round 3: Firefly Autotest, 23 April

Dave Mosey and Chris Chapman tied for first place overall in the Firefly Autotest, held at Harper Adams University in Telford.

John Moffatt was third overall after collecting the only penalty between the top three cars in the whole event.

Three tests were run five times during the day in car parks around the university, where the specials of Malcolm Livingston and Dave Evans were not so dominant for once.

MSA British Sporting Trials Championship Round 7: Pennine Trial, 23 April

Roland Uglow won the Pennine Trial to take his third win of the season, with former regular passenger Laura Wilks back in the car.

Uglow triumphed by just a single point from Richard Sharp, who also won the last event. Peter Fensom completed the podium. John Fack finished fourth, just ahead of Andy Wilks and Simon Kingsley.

Mike Salton was top clubman in ninth, three points behind Packham. Top red live axle was Brian Thornton in thirteenth just ahead of Stuart Beare. Top blue independent driver was Mike Readings in fifteenth taking the last MSA point. Bill Bourne in just his second trial won top Rookie in a creditable twenty fourth.

Round 4: Ernest Owen Car Trial, 23 April

Dave Oliver was triumphant after another titanic battle in the rear-wheel-drive class at the Ernest Owen Car Trial.

Kevin Roberts led initially, then Barrie Parker came through. However Parker slipped up and dropped two points, then Steve Courts dropped did the same during the final round of dry hills, handing Oliver victory.

Meanwhile reigning champion Henry Kitching made his maiden outing of the year and won the new car class. Rupert North won the front-wheel-drive class, while Dean Partington won the classic trials class from fellow local Stuart Bartlett.

Avon Tyres/TTC Group MSA British Hill Climb Championship
Round 1-2: Prescott, 22-23 April

Trevor Willis made the best possible start to the season with a pair of run-off wins at Prescott.

Reigning six-times champion Scott Moran was the second highest scorer but may slip down the points table later on, since he will only be doing half of this season's events.

Surprise package Dave Uren was the third highest scorer on the day in his first championship event aboard an unlimited-class car.

Round 3: Rowrah, 22-23 April

It s now four out of four for Taylor Barnard after another two wins on the championship's return to Rowrah, this time in more clement weather.

Barnard was able to pull out a significant lead each time, over Irishman Alexander Dunne in final one and Welshman Matthew Rees in final two.

Round 3: Rowrah, 22-23 April

Jonny Wilkinson won final two at Rowrah after a highly competitive race where Louie Westover, Luke Whitehead and Morgan Porter also spent time in the lead.

Wilkinson secured the win on the last lap ahead of round two winner Louie Westover and privateer Reggie Duhy.

Round 3: Rowrah, 22-23 April

Danny Keirle continued his dominant Super One campaign with two more wins at Rowrah.

After a lively first final Keirle took a lights-to-flag victory in final two, pulling away from Brett Ward, while Thomas Turner took third from Derek Morgan on the last lap.
