The Porsche Club GB recently presented the awards for the 2004 Michelin Porsche Club Championship and the Michelin Porsche Open Series.The top award in the Club Championship went to overall champion Richard Lambert, while the other class titles were won by Peter Morris and Fraser Robertson. Lambert scored strongly in each of the 17 races and was a worthy champion.JAZ Motorsport took the team trophy in the Club Championship, having tended as many as five cars including those of Lambert and Rob Williams.The Michelin Porsche Open 'driver of the year' award was presented to Richard Chamberlain after taking nine poles, 11 wins and 13 fastest laps in his superb 935. His team, Chimp Tune Racing, won the team trophy for its work in keeping the 935 in top form.The 'rookie of the year' award went to Ragdan El-Akabi, who finished all 23 races he started and even won the Bill Taylor Memorial Trophy on handicap in his 911RS. The '944 driver of the year' award was presented to Alex Eacock who scored 11 class wins during the season.Finally, the 'spirit of the series' award for the Open Series went to Paul Herbert in his first season of racing. He drove his 914-6 to virtually all the rounds and then drove it home again after recording a 100% finishing record!
