Porsche Club Speed champions

The champions and award winners from the 2004 Michelin Porsche Club Speed Championship were celebrated recently at the Porsche Club GB's annual awards' dinner. The overall championship title was presented to Graham Howells, who won 10 out of 10 events in class 2 and took the crown on a tie-break with Ian McMath. Howells, the 2003 'rookie of the year', had a superb season competing alongside his father Paul, with Howells senior winning class one. Other class winners were Graham Rose and McMath.The 2004 'rookie of the year' award went to Derek Thomas in his first year of motorsport. He took 10 top four finishes from 11 events in his Carrera 3.2 Supersport. The ladies' award, meanwhile, went to Laura Wardle, who shared the lightweight 3.2 Carrera of Jonathan Williamson.For the second year running, Mike Johnson won the 'showman of the year' award for his spectacular driving style. During his hard-charging season, Johnson missed a class one victory at Loton Park by just 0.08s.
