With a day to go before the world’s greatest racing and rally drivers will do battle over a 1km track in the hallowed Stade de France, organisers of The Race of Champions – Nations Cup have revealed that just 6000 tickets remain for the greatest motor sport spectacle of the year.

“We have sold 56,000 tickets so far,”  said event organiser Fredrik Johnsson.   “The capacity for the Stade de France with our track is 62,000 so we are very pleased.   The fans will not be disappointed,  we have the most significant line-up of international drivers ever assembled and competition will be fierce.”

Within an hour of the final whistle at last weekend’s France-New Zealand rugby international,  the Stade de France staff began transforming the arena into a two-lane figure of eight tarmac race track.

The track and safety devices were completed on Thursday and immediately the track was put through its paces.  All four types of car being used in Paris,   RoC Buggies,  Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge’s,  Peugeot 306 WRC and Citroen Xsara WRC took part in tyre testing.

Michele Mouton,  runner up in the World Rally Championship and event co-organiser,  said after the test:   “It is a very challenging track with little scope for mistakes. It is going to take a lot of driver skill to stay away from the barriers and keep momentum going.   The races will be very close.”

France’s top hip hop star DJ Cutkiller has been confirmed for the The Race of Champions – Nations Cup.   He will entertain the massive crowd between events.
