GP Racing; who contested the Superfund Euro 3000 series this year, has decided to race for the Formula Superfund once again in 2005.
The Venetian team has confirmed its participation in this top notch championship after being just a few points away from getting the driver’s title. In 2003 and 2004 GP Racing and Fabrizio Del Monte played a leading role throughout the Superfund Euros 3000 Series and finished in second place in the classification. The very challenging and spectacular Formula Superfund category will have a new single seater equipped with the powerful Judd V10 engine that is able to run on 700 HSP.
The single seater impressed Fabrizio del Monte who had an opportunity to test the car at a test session on the Estoril track on Dec 1 to Dec 4. Regardless of the rain, at that session Fabrizio had a chance to get to know the car and had a chance to see just how fast it is. Del Monte says: “The new John Davis single seater impressed me for its powerful engine, its chassis and its carbon brakes. The car was perfect from every angle and the gears on the steering wheel make the gear change all the more faster, I honestly felt like I was in a Formula One car. So much so that whoever will drive this car won’t have any problems adapting to a possible move to a higher category.
The Formula Superfund calendar has 10 rounds: Brno, Estoril, Monza, Nürburgring, Zandvoort, Lausitzring, Donington, Zolder, Vallelunga and one other unknown circuit. For info: formulasuperfund.com
Tancredi Pagiaro, Team Manager
“Out of all the championships that help drivers prepare for Formula One, I believe that Formula Superfund is the best choice. Our team has always had the objective to bring new talented drivers to the highest stage in motor sports which is Formula One.
Therefore it was only natural for us to choose this championship which has already proven to be very competitive and fascinating. We are looking at a top notch championship. The team is technically ready and motivated and our sponsors have confirmed their loyalty to us. We still haven’t decided who are drivers will be but we are presently negotiating with a few options. I’m happy to say that these negotiations should end very soon.”
