SILVERSTONE SWITCHES TO BECOME OPENING BARC ROUND

Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, the home of the British Grand Prix, will now provisionally host the opening round of the 2005 Formula Renault BARC Championship following a calendar re-jig to accommodate the Formula One World Championship’s visit to the UK in July.

Originally, Donington Park in Leicestershire was due to be the season-opening venue but with the announcement the British GP will now take place on 9th/10th July it’s been necessary for the Formula Renault BARC calendar to be amended.

The 2005 season will now start at Silverstone National Circuit on 16th April with the second round of the championship set to take place at Donington Park just seven days later on 24th April.

Formula Renault BARC’s first ‘double-header’ meeting of the year will be held at Pembrey Circuit in Wales on 21st/22nd May before a month-long break until rounds five and six at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire on 25th/26th June.

The championship visits the ‘home’ of the BARC, Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire, on 24th July, rounds eight and nine will take place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit on 30th/31st July, Snetterton in Norfolk hosts the 10th and 11th rounds on 20th/21st August and the season then concludes with the 12th and final round at Oulton Park Island Circuit on 24th September.
