Heidfeld quickest at Jerez

BMW WilliamsF1 Team drivers Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld kick started the team's preparations for the 2005 season at Jerez de la Frontera yesterday.  Preparations for the 2005 FIA Formula One World Championship got underway at the popular Spanish test track. Conditions were ideal, with blue skies and temperatures reaching 16°C, as the BMW WilliamsF1 Team began a five-day test.

Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld were both on duty, running interim WilliamsF1 BMW FW26s, which sported the new 2005 livery, unveiled in Bahrain last week.

Both drivers concentrated on set-ups, in addition to evaluating different brake ducts.

Mark completed 90 laps, setting a best time of 1:17.493 minutes, while Nick, who is in competition with Antonio Pizzonia for the second race seat, completed 81 laps, posting a best time of 1:17.447 minutes. Lap times:   POS. - DRIVER - TEAM - TIME - LAPS   1.
