Move your journalism career up a gear with Bridgestone e-reporter
Win a trip to Japan The 2005 FIA Formula One World Championship is now less than eight weeks away and Bridgestone, official tyre partner to Ferrari, Jordan Grand Prix and Minardi F1 has announced a pan-European search for talented young journalists – Bridgestone e-reporter.
Announced to coincide with the inaugural GP2 Series, the Bridgestone and Renault- backed one-make Formula that has pledged to nurture the next generation of motorsport talent; Bridgestone e-reporter is offering a chance of a lifetime to students hoping to pursue a career in journalism. Now in its second year, the initiative will dramatically increase the prizes on offer for 2005. Seven finalists will be invited to attend a European Grand Prix to report on the GP2 Series, meeting the drivers and personalities behind the Championship, and sample the exclusive Formula One Paddock and witness the international media in action. The articles will be published on the Bridgestone Europe and GP2 websites. The overall winner will then win a once in a lifetime trip to Tokyo, Japan. Here they will have the chance to visit Bridgestone’s global headquarters and report on a major Bridgestone event. To ensure the lucky winner has all the tools required to continue with their newfound career in journalism, they will also be presented with a state-of- the-art laptop computer. Entries will be submitted online via bridgestone-eu.com/e-reporter, to be judged by a panel of internationally respected motorsport media and F1 representatives.
Chairing the panel is ITV’s Formula One Studio Analyst Tony Jardine, who has over 20 years of Formula One media experience.
“Bridgestone e-reporter is an excellent opportunity for all European students who are considering a career in sports journalism. Formula One is arguably the most global and commercially advanced sport in the world and as a result is fiercely competitive and notoriously difficult to break into, be it as a driver, engineer or journalist.
The GP2 Series is designed to offer support to young drivers and engineers striving to make it to the top of their field and Bridgestone e-reporter fits in perfectly with this philosophy,” said Tony Jardine. Given the uniqueness of the opportunity, we are expecting an extremely high number of entries and these will be judged on the criteria all successful working journalists are expected to fulfil. In addition to the ability to write, we are looking for solid research, an appreciation of the target audience and subject matter, enthusiasm for the sport, initiative and of course, that extra special something – the flair to stand out from the crowd.”
Bridgestone e-reporter is open to all students aged 18-30 studying full time in Europe at a high school, college or university. For more information about the competition and to enter, log on to bridgestone-eu.com/e-reporter.
The closing date for entries is 1200 GMT on Monday 14 March 2005. bridgestone-eu.com/e-reporter
