Valencia - Franck Montagny, R24-08, 118 laps, 473 km

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team  began a three-day test at Valencia yesterday. Franck Montagny was the team's sole representative, and will be joined  by Fernando Alonso today.

The day's programme focused almost entirely on tyre testing, conducting the usual range of performance evaluations on new constructions and compounds. A smaller number of these tyres will then be tested tomorrow over  longer distances.

Conditions were also very windy, disrupting the team's work.

Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented:

"Today, we began what has become the normal tyre evaluation process for 2005 specification tyres. Our performance runs yielded promising results, with further steps forward in the compounds and constructions, and we will continue our work with longer distance running tomorrow."
