Hot Rod London Championship

Spedeworth International  plays host to the awesome National and 2.0 Hot Rods when the top drivers in the sport descend on Wimbledon Stadium to contest the London Championship on Sunday February 6th at 5pm.

This is an ‘open’ event with drivers from the top promotions invited to do battle with the cream of Spedeworth’s Hot Rod pilots to decide who is going to bear the title of London Champion for 2005.

The incredibly rapid National Hot Rods are the pinnacle of the non-contact formulas that race at Wimbledon. With their full race engines developing over 200bhp in cars weighing just 700kg the Rods are capable of enormous bursts of speed ensuring the drivers have their hands full as they navigate the tight Plough Lane circuit with mere inches between the competing cars and the ever present danger of the car-crunching safety fence. Mistakes are expensive, with cars that cost upward of £20,00 to build, but this does not prevent the National Hot Rod pilots from putting the pedal very firmly to the metal as they go all out to secure the London Championship.

The equally rapid 2.0 Hot Rods also provide some jaw dropping racing as the £12,000 machines navigate the Plough Lane circuit in wheel to wheel races that always deliver plenty of thrills and spills as the drivers jockey for the lead around Plough Lane.

The Stock Rods will round off a great night’s Hot Rod action when these budget rods take to the Plough Lane circuit. These entry level Hot Rods are not far from standard road going machines, powered by 1300-1400cc engines, but they still deliver some of the closest racing to be seen on the short circuit oval.

With three formulas in action and the chance to see the new Hot Rod London championship decided in fine style, Spedeworth South delivers another great night’s racing at Wimbledon Stadium, Britain’s finest stock car racing circuit.
