Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell’s new sports management company, 2MB, has signed two rising young British motorsport stars Tim Bridgman and Sam Bird. The pair will benefit from former F1 drivers Brundle and Blundell’s extensive motorsport experience and advice in legal, commercial, marketing and communications matters.
Nineteen-year-old Bridgman from Dunmow, Essex, won the 2004 UK Formula BMW championship in only his second year of single-seater competition, an achievement that was recognised at the end of the year with a nomination for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. Bridgman will contest the championship class of the 2005 British Formula 3 championship with Hitech Racing.
Bird, 18, of Claygate, Surrey, recently signed to Fortec Motorsport to contest the 2005 UK Formula BMW championship after finishing second in the Formula BMW rookie class last season. Bird has extensive experience in senior levels of karting, which he began age eight.
Mark Blundell commented: “Tim and Sam have demonstrated huge potential in their respective careers, and both are hungry for success. The pair want to make it to Formula 1, but today it takes more than raw talent. I hope that with our combined experience Martin and I will be able to guide them towards the best opportunities to keep them on course for the top.”
