Porsche Club Championship kicks off
.... at SnettertonThe challenge for the 2005 Michelin Porsche Club Championship kicks off with a pair of races at Snetterton on Sunday (10 April). In the course of the day, Porsche Club motorsport history will be made when 16-year old Marcus Clutton becomes the youngest racing driver in the club's history. At the head of the action will be the class one pack and it is Kevin Harrison and Ian White who have taken on the mantle of pre-season favourites. Harrison is mounting a full campaign in the ex-Peter Morris 968CS, while White returns for another shot at the title in his 3.2 Carrera. Both are determined racers and there is likely to be little to chose between them at Snetterton. However, there are other drivers in class one who can rightly expect to be in the hunt for podium finishes. Veteran Mike Clapham (968CS), youngster Andy Purdie (3.2 Carrera), Richard Harrison (3.2 Carrera) and class newcomer Ian Oliver (Carrera RS) all add quality in depth to the top class.Clutton, who was only 16 a month ago, will be a centre of attention in class two, but faces some very experienced racers as he makes the step up from karting in a 911SC run by Mach-Tech/ABG Motorsport. Tom Segrue (944S2) is probably pre-race favourite, but Colin Ingram (911SC) is overdue some good fortune and therefore some good results. David Botterill is back with his rare 924 Carrera GT, while Alvaro Crego fields his 944S2. Two more championship newcomers grace class two in the form of current Porsche 924 champion Chris Milne (911SC) and racing novice Steven Ebbs (911SC). In class three, Suffolk racer Chris Stewart (Saxmundham) should be the man to carry local honours, but faces the ever-increasing pace of Paul Goldman (911SC).
