Indy Pro 2000 championship leader Louis Foster is full of confidence heading back to a more traditional road course at Elkhart Lake this weekend where the season will cross the halfway mark.

At the last race Foster impressed the US motorsport community by winning his first ever race on an oval with a rapid but measured drive that handed him the championship lead and maintained his record of setting at least one fastest lap at every track this season.

The Exclusive Autosport driver has been in the top four in six of the eight races held in Indy Pro 2000 so far this season, capped off with the Indianapolis oval win.

“One of the reasons you come to race in the US is because of the challenge it represents, driving on road courses, street circuits and ovals,” says Foster,  who is backed by Copart, a global leader in online auto auctions, and Florida-based luxury Italian garden umbrella brand Poggesi. 
You just don’t get that anywhere else.

“It’s a true test of you as a driver and the team as a whole, and to win on an oval at my first try feels really significant for us.
I can’t thank the fans who have sent messages of congratulations or the media who have praised the win enough for their contributions, it feels like a big result for my career. 

“But motorsport moves quickly and the focus after the race was already on how we win at Road America and keep our championship campaign on the right track.”

Foster enters the Road America weekend with a 14-point lead having won the last two races, adding the Indianapolis road course victory to his Lucas Oil Raceway oval success.

He has been working hard with the team to improve his knowledge and preparation of the Cooper tyres which are new to him in his first season racing in the US, and has made good steps in this area over the last few circuit events.

“On one hand, Road America’s much more what I’m used to in terms of it being a traditional permanent circuit, but also we know we have work to do in qualifying on road courses,” adds Foster.

“Road America is well known in Europe as being a fantastic track, so it’s another one I’ve been looking forward to getting to and racing at. 
Hopefully we can have a strong weekend for my team and all our partners. We've definitely made strides in the last few road courses so I'm hopeful."
