55 Raceway Ginetta & 61 Academy Ford disqualified from Snetterton British GT

Snetterton’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship results have been revised and finalised following the disqualification of Raceway Motorsport’s #55 Ginetta G56 and Academy Motorsport’s #61 Ford Mustang from the meeting.

Michael Crees (Raceway) and Erik Evans (Academy) were involved in a verbally abusive exchange after Race 2 on Sunday. The Clerk of the Course’s subsequent investigation found both drivers to be in breach of Motorsport UK’s Race with Respect code of conduct for competitors (Appendix 10 of the British GT Championship regulations).

Six penalty points have been applied to each driver’s competition license and their entries disqualified from qualifying and both races.

The altercation in the paddock followed contact between the drivers on track during Race 2 on Sunday afternoon.

Crees had earlier won the Pro-Am class and finished second overall in Race 1, while Evans came home eighth. Both entries were also originally classified in Race 2, albeit outside of the overall top-10, despite the contact that sparked the subsequent paddock confrontation.

Raceway’s exclusion sees R Racing’s Josh Miller and Seb Hopkins move up to second place in class ahead of new podium finishers and Pro-Am class winners Michael Johnston and Chris Salkeld (Century Motorsport).
