Nissan’s e-4ORCE Tackles the Frozen Land of a Thousand Lakes

Finland's frozen lakes and snow-covered roads showcase Nissan's e-4ORCE technology through thrilling on and off-road winter courses
e-4ORCE's power and precision will be centre stage, with its exclusive all-wheel drive, dual motor tech, and instant power distribution mastering any wintery condition with ease

Embark on an exhilarating adventure with e-4ORCE technology, the ultimate companion for conquering icy roads and snowy landscapes, as Nissan showcases the dynamic prowess of its exclusive all-wheel technology specially developed for electrified powertrains.

Amidst the frosty beauty of Finland, known as the Land of a Thousand Lakes, Nissan's e-4ORCE technology transforms this icy paradise into a driving experience of a lifetime. Engineered with precision, e-4ORCE is empowering drivers to effortlessly traverse the most challenging of conditions with ease and confidence.

Showcasing the technology's unparalleled capabilities on icy terrains, the X-Trail e-POWER e-4ORCE and 100% electric Ariya e-4ORCE smoothly weave through on and off-road courses and a thrilling ice lake drive in a show-stopping performance mirroring a chance-encounter with the famous Northern Lights.

From daily commuters to adventurous travellers, e-4ORCE helps unleash the thrill of day-to-day driving, but against the backdrop of Finland's frozen lakes, e-4ORCE adapts for optimal performance on ice, snow and challenging terrain conditions. Its superior control and handling thanks to its dual-motor system allows drivers to tackle tight turns and frosty bends with little steering correction, supported by individual braking for all four wheels.

Nissan's e-4ORCE also boasts regenerative braking distribution – minimizing the car's forward pitching to make sure that drivers feel secure and in control, regardless of whether they're tackling the frozen tundra of the arctic or the morning commute to work. It ensures the vehicle effortlessly glides along the intended cornering line, so anyone can comfortably feel like a pro, without breaking a sweat!

A powerful and smooth drive

In the case of the X-Trail, the dual e-motor system has a total output of 157kW (213PS) with a 150kW front motor (330Nm torque) and a rear 100kW motor (195Nm torque). This generates lively acceleration from 0- 100km/h in 7 seconds. It has a 10,000 times faster rear torque response than a mechanical 4WD system.

The Ariya e-4ORCE has a total system output of 225kW (306PS) producing a torque up to 600Nm. This generates lively acceleration from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. Both vehicles enjoy confident and agile handling in all conditions, enabling a powerful yet smooth driving experience.

Superior control and handling

The e-4ORCE system uses the battery to power a twin motor system evenly distributed on each axle for independent wheel control. Drivers easily follow the intended cornering line with minimal steering correction.  and compensate for common driver's responses such as understeering.

Confidence on all surfaces

With e-4ORCE, the torque is distributed to the front and rear to maximize tire grip according to road surface conditions and the vehicle's situation, while the braking is individually controlled for each of the four wheels. Thanks to this precise control of the twin-motor system and the brake torque-vectoring capabilities, the vehicle maintains the right course whether the road is wet, oily, slippery with wet leaves or covered in snow or ice.

The key to the vehicle's on-road poise is the balanced distribution of power from the twin motor system, which can be adjusted in 1/10000th of a second, considerably faster than traditional mechanical all-wheel drive systems.

e-4ORCE: Pitch control for a comfortable ride for all passengers

Less pitching or diving forward thanks to regenerative braking distribution for a natural feeling of comfort. The pitch is suppressed by controlling regenerative balance between the front and rear axles. And the twin motor system means a greater level of regenerative energy capture, optimizing the vehicle's efficiency at every opportunity.

Wherever you find yourself behind the wheel this winter, you can strap in and tackle the elements safe in the knowledge that e-4ORCE technology has got you covered – proven as Nissan puts on display in the beautiful but harsh icy environments of rural Finland.
