Silverstone introduces GP Family Ticket

for just £79

With  four  British  drivers  lining  up  on  the  start  grid  at  this  year’s  FORMULA  1™  Santander  British Grand Prix, taking place on 6-8 July, there’s never been a better time for young fans and families to experience  the  intensity,  glamour  and  drama  of  F1.  Recognising  that  the  sport  needs  to  be  more accessible  to  family  audiences,  Silverstone  has  today  announced  the  introduction of a new Family Ticket that will go on sale on Monday 30 April, in time for this year’s British Grand Prix.

The new Family Tickets offer incredible value for families who might be heading to the Grand Prix for the first time, enabling a family of four (two adults and two children*) to attend the Friday of this year’s British Grand Prix for as little as £79, while a Family Ticket for qualifying on the Saturday is priced at just  £139.  Families  are  also  able  to  purchase  up  to  two  additional  Child  Tickets*  for  the  Friday  or Saturday, which are individually priced at £10 and £20 respectively.

The  introduction  of  the  Family  Ticket  follows  extensive  research  that  has  been  carried  out  by  the circuit in recent months. While the three day Fan Ticket, priced at £99, was considered to represent fantastic value, and remains extremely popular amongst the majority of British Grand Prix spectators who  enjoy  the  Friday  to  Sunday  experience,  Silverstone  bosses  identified  that  a  more  affordable ‘entry level’ ticket needed to be introduced for families and the younger audience.

Richard   Phillips,  Managing  Director  of  Silverstone  Circuits  Limited,  commented,

“We  want  to introduce  the  world  of  FORMULA  1™  and  Silverstone  to  family  audiences.  Fewer  young  fans  are coming in to the sport, and we recognise that something needs to be done to enthuse and engage this market. At £79 for the Friday and £139 for the Saturday the new Family Tickets, for two adults and two children, offer fantastic value for money.

“Nothing compares to the ‘live’ on-event atmosphere generated at the British Grand Prix, and the new Family  Tickets  will  provide  an  affordable  ‘entry  level’  option  for  families  who  may  be  thinking  of coming to the Grand Prix for the first time.”

In  addition  to  the  spectacular  F1  action,  there’s  plenty  to  keep  families  entertained  away  from  the track.

British Grand Prix highlights on both the Friday and Saturday include:

Friday 6 July - Formula 1: 2 x 90 minute practice sessions - GP2: Free Practice and Qualifying - Porsche Supercup: Free Practice - Live Music in Entertainment Zones - Red Devils Parachute Display Saturday 7 July - Formula 1: 60 minute practice and 60 minute Qualifying - GP2: Free Practice and Qualifying - Porsche Supercup: Free Practice - Live Music in Entertainment Zones - Wimbledon broadcast on Giant Screens - Live Earth being shown on Giant Screens

Phillips added, “There are very few leisure activities, let alone world class events, that a family of four can experience for as little as £79. We hope to see a few more families joining us at Silverstone for this year’s British Grand Prix. You never know – one or two may even be inspired to become the next Lewis Hamilton.”
