V8 Utes Warren Battla Millet to race at Sydney V8 Event

V8 Ute driver, Warren The Battla Millet, will take to the track in his 620 horsepower VY HSV GTS at Sydney Motor Park, racing in the improved production category as a support to this weekends V8 Supercar Championship races.

Millet has raced in the V8 Ute Series since 2007, and celebrated his 100th race earlier in the year at the Clipsal 500.

In 2009, the Sydneysider overcame a brain-tumor with the help of renowned surgeon Dr Charlie Teo. Hes been racing in the Improved Production Series for almost four years now, and sees it as a great way to get some extra track time between V8 Ute Rounds.

I do state rounds in the GTS with Matt Holt my Team Manager. The 620 horsepower keeps you on the ball and gives me a bit of extra practice behind the wheel, said Millet.

With a three month break between the last V8 Ute round and Bathurst in October, drivers are trying to get as much track time as possible. Millet is no different, having tested at Winton Raceway last week and has Phillip Island on his radar next, alongside rival and series leader, Nathan Pretty.

Were doing a test day at PI with Nathan (Pretty) and Craig Dontas so it will be good to get some tips from Nathan, hes been around Bathurst a fair few times, said Millet.

Im really looking forward to driving at Bathurst again, I love racing there.

The Wake Up Backpacker Hotel owner qualified 3rd in the Improved Production races last weekend at Wakefield Park and would have finished in the top 3, until he had issues with the rear axle.

Yeah we are feeling good. I think there are about 56 entries so it will be a pretty big field, Im racing with a lot of the guys I usually race against and the cars in good shape now, so were hoping to post some good results, said Millet.

Millet will race his Wake-up Racing Holden Ute again at Round 5 of the 2012 Auto One V8 Ute Racing Seriesprotected by Armor All at Mount Panorama, 47 October.

The 2012 Series consists of 32 V8 Utes 16 Fords and 16 Holdens who battle it out through 26 races over eight rounds raced throughout Australia covering six states and one territory and is televised nationally through-out Australia on Network Seven and 7 Mate and internationally through Motors TV Europe, TV3 New Zealand and SPEED online in the USA.
