BMW hit the front in Knockhill BTCC FP2

Rookie Charles Rainford hit the front in FP2 as the WSR squad looks to be showing a further upturn in pace as the BTCC season continues at Knockhill.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship blasted back into action at Croft two weeks' ago where Daryl DeLeon took a podium while Rainford claimed Jack Sears Trophy honours.

The young WSR duo continued their form around the 1.27-mile Knockhill circuit during the early FP2 running, as DeLeon topped the times midway through the session, before LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Rainford ultimately claimed P1 in the closing minutes.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA's Árón Taylor-Smith has had a good day so far as he followed up his fourth in the opening session with second in final practice, with the Speedworks stable another looking to improve during the second half of the campaign.

Restart Racing's Dan Lloyd was fourth as he and his team look to maintain their momentum in the fight for Independents' glory, whilst the Team VERTU duo of Tom Ingram and Senna Proctor completed the top five positions.

Chris Smiley ensured that both Restart Racing Hyundais were inside the top six, whilst DeLeon eventually had to settle for seventh in his #2 BMW 330i M Sport.

NAPA Racing UK's Dan Rowbottom's was eighth, whilst teammate Dan Cammish and LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Aiden Moffat rounded out the top ten.

There was disappointment for fellow Scot Gordon Shedden after his Toyota suffered with a broken exhaust clamp and he had to sit out much of the session.

Qualifying for Round 19 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will take place at 15:00 later today and will be streamed LIVE via the ITV Sport YouTube channel.
