Royal Automobile Club Concours to honour centenary of Britain's first Grand Prix

Delage and McLaren winners salute 100 years of Grand Prix racing in the UK with special display at next month’s Woodcote Park showcase
The Royal Automobile Club will celebrate the centenary of Britain's first-ever Grand Prix with a spectacular display of past and present racing legends at its prestigious Club Concours at Woodcote Park on Wednesday 8 July.

It was exactly 100 years ago that the Royal Automobile Club was instrumental in bringing the excitement, prestige and international significance of Grand Prix racing to Britain for the very first time.

Staged at Brooklands, the birthplace of British motor racing, the ground-breaking 1926 Grand Prix of the Royal Automobile Club (photo above) proved pivotal in establishing the UK as a global force in the sport.

The centenary of this landmark occasion is a major milestone that the Club will commemorate throughout the year with a series of special celebrations, including presence at the Brooklands Centenary event in early August, the St James's Motoring Spectacle in central London in late October and, first of all, at the Club Concours.

Marking the 100-year anniversary in fitting style, the headline display outside the recently refurbished Woodcote Park Clubhouse, set against the scenic backdrop of the Epsom Downs, will feature two iconic Grand Prix-winning cars from different and defining eras.

Taking pride of place will be a Delage 15-S-8 and a McLaren MCL39A. The dark blue Delage (photo below bottom) is one of the victorious French company's original team cars from 1926, while the iconic papaya-liveried McLaren is as raced by current World Champion Lando Norris during his title-winning 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season

Adding further significance to the display, the two legendary racing cars will be joined by the coveted gold-plated solid silver British Grand Prix Trophy, presented annually to the winner of the British Grand Prix on the Silverstone podium

With the Club Concours taking place just three days after this year's British Grand Prix, the name of the 2026 Silverstone victor will be freshly engraved onto the trophy's illustrious roll of honour, adding an extra layer of relevance and excitement to the display.

The Royal Automobile Club Concours features a competitive element, with approximately 70 exceptional automobiles judged by a panel of leading experts across seven prestigious concours categories, culminating in the selection of an overall Best in Show winner.

Beyond the concours competition itself, a series of special feature displays will help bring the total number of vehicles on show to more than 200. Rare and eclectic cars will be showcased across the rolling greens of Woodcote Park, accompanied by anniversary tributes, fascinating engines, historic motorcycles and some of today's most desirable supercars.

With exceptional entertainment and hospitality, the second staging of the event promises a memorable and distinctive day out for motoring enthusiasts. Adding further appeal, the event will be for the first time complemented by the RM Sotheby's Woodcote Park Auction, taking place on site.

Tickets are available to all members of the Royal Automobile Club. Woodcote Park will also welcome members of invited car clubs and motoring organisations, particularly those aligned with the selected concours categories and special feature displays.

Members of invited clubs and organisations have received a unique access code enabling them to purchase advance tickets. A full hospitality package is also available for guests seeking an enhanced event experience.
