Formula Renault UK star Jeremy Metcalfe faces his toughest few days of the year next weekend, not just from a racing perspective but also because he has several highly important A-level exams which clash with the seventh and eighth rounds of the season. The 18-year-old, from Fleet in Hampshire, is currently in the middle of intensive revision as part of his pivotal final year of A-level studies but next weekend, 17th/18th June, he will need to take vital time away from the classroom in order to travel to the most distant venue on the championship calendar, Knockhill Circuit in Scotland.Not only is it likely Jeremy will be forced to miss the official pre-event test session the day before the meeting due to an exam, he will also need to return to Hampshire immediately after the second of the Knockhill races to prepare for two further exams which will take place on Monday, 19th June.The AKA Lemac sensation, who is sponsored by BillChaser, is currently second in the Formula Renault UK Championship standings and after a difficult outing on home soil at Thruxton last weekend, he is eager to get back on track in order to try and reclaim the series lead which he held prior to rounds five and six.In addition to his exam pressures, Jeremy also has very little experience of the tricky Fife circuit – where Formula Renault UK will join the ELF Renault Clio Cup as the headline category of the weekend – so if he is forced to miss testing, the teenage ace certainly faces an uphill battle to be on the pace in qualifying.“I’m looking forward to Knockhill but it’s going to be a very tough few days for me as I have several exams which all fall around the race weekend”, said Jeremy.“I have an exam on the test day, then we travel to the circuit for the race weekend and then I have to come straight back home as I have two more exams – perhaps the most important ones I’ll sit – on the Monday after the race.“Obviously, it’ll be very hard and certainly very hectic but I’ve just got to get on with it and do the best I can on track and in the exam room. I normally learn circuits pretty quickly though, so I’m confident we should be able to do a decent job.”He added: “I’ve only ever done a small amount of testing at Knockhill and most of that was in the wet, we only managed about 10 laps in the dry. I may not be as close to the front as I want to be in the first qualifying session but I aim to be on the pace in session two and I’ll be racing hard for two good results from the weekend.” Qualifying for the seventh round of the Formula Renault UK season is scheduled to start at 11.55 on Saturday, 17th June, with round eight qualifying expected to commence at 15.30. Round seven will then take place at 12.30 on Sunday, 18th June, while the eighth round of the season will follow at 15.20.
